Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want
(And by what I want, I mean that amazing apartment I saw today.)
I— I follow, I follow you Deep sea baby, I follow you I— I follow, I follow you Dark doom honey, I follow you
God I love SMBC. You know, this comic reminds me of several froyo—and some other—places in Singapore: ”Sir! How come all the females in your establishment have the same phenotype? Why do they all wear t-shirts, shorts, and caps with ponytails?”
(Yes, I believe in the Oxford comma.)

50 rich Europeans call for Higher Taxes for the... →
A group of 50 rich Germans have joined the “tax me harder” movement by renewing their open call to Angela Merkel to “stop the gap between rich and poor getting even bigger”.
I don’t think you’d see this in Singapore, for a variety of reasons apart from the obvious.

Stas: I had the biggest erection last night because of you.
Me: Really? I'm not even one of the Tans running for president.
Stas: They only hold erections once in five years, then it goes down.
Reporters Attacked In London Riots (Some HuffPo... →
Sometimes, reporters became unwitting targets of violence. An ITV trainee journalist saw his car burst into flames as rioters moved down the Liverpool street where he lived.
This is stupid. Being in the press does not preclude you from being a victim—journalist or not, his car would’ve gotten torched anyway. The only difference is that you can tell more people about it.

More on the Straits Times iPad app
Yesterday’s Digital Life: “In the app’s first 10 days, it had to be updated three times, as the team fixed bugs and stability issues … my advice to users is to update the app whenever it is available in the App Store.”
While yes, updating an app (or anything) whenever an update is available comes under best practices, this could also be interpreted as “we...

Authorship and Art in Google Street View →
I remember reading about authorship and remediation for my Media & Technologies module—this is related, and pretty interesting. For some reason the original copy on Wired is down; this is a cached copy from NetNewsWire on my Dropbox folder.

Immigrant influx can't be helped: LKY →
I think his points are valid. Two thoughts, though: 1) What are the reasons behind our low birth rate (honest question), and 2) Japan has a lot more money than we do. I suppose being tax-deductible isn’t good enough for most—maybe we should pump some of the money used to attract foreign talent into more benefits for having kids, but I’m not an LKYSPP student.
As an aside, I find it...

Wired: Why has BlackBerry been blamed for the... →
This is ridiculous—as ridiculous as calling Lybia/Tunisia/Egypt “Twitter” revolutions. We are not blaming BBM for riots; the media just likes to sensationalise things and people tend to pick up on it because it’s easy to poke a stick at. You create something and ask people why it exists? It’s absolute pants. Social networking does not overthrow governments!

Family Dinners
Aunt Kim: I was playing with Wei's kids when they introduced me to this game—they would touch you and say something, and you would have to say something back. I can't remember what it was.
Me: What, molest?
